Riding on Election Outcome

With more than 20 election races involving pro-business candidates still in play less than a week before next Tuesday's election, small business has a lot riding on the outcome.

The Kansas Chamber listens to its members, takes your concerns directly to the policy-makers in Topeka, and then proposes legislative solutions to fix the problems.

To make Kansas the best state in America to do business, The Chamber's lobbying team works with pro-jobs legislators who pledge to

  • Support The Kansas Chamber's Jobs First Agenda
  • Promote the tenets of the free enterprise system

"Kansas Chamber small business members should take an active role in the upcoming November elections," says Jeff Glendening, Chamber vice president of political affairs.

"Small business operators in Kansas can increase the size of our pro-jobs business caucus in the legislature, and this election could very well set the stage for reducing the costs of doing business in Kansas," he added.

Fundamental Five
There are five crucial steps you can take that will help your small business on Election Day.

  1. Educate your employees on the issues that affect your business and the importance that a good economic climate plays in their livelihood.
  2. Encourage your employees to vote for candidates that support The Chamber's Jobs First Agenda and the American free enterprise system.
  3. Identify critical races in your area and help pro-employer candidates.
  4. Research your legislator's voting record to and let your employees know about it.
  5. Get Out and Vote.

Your small business can aid get out the vote efforts to support pro-biz candidates who endorse The Kansas Chamber's Jobs First legislative program, promote the tenets of free enterprise, and pledge to make Kansas a better place to do business.

Ask your employees to go to the site for information on which candidates will create a better Kansas business climate that will spur job growth.

National polls show that the more employees hear from their employers about political subjects, the more they approve of and want the information. Additionally, they are more inclined to vote.

There are a number of election races across the state critical to the success of The Chamber's Jobs First Agenda when the 2007 Kansas Legislature convenes. Chamber VP Jeff Glendening is working with these campaigns to make sure that pro-employer candidates are able to get their pro-business message out to the voters.

In this publication, The Chamber each week features some highly contested races, where the outcome for business is uncertain but important to ultimately moving Kansas towards a better business climate for small business.
