is naming
legislators who have established themselves as pro-business
lawmakers," said Lew Ebert, president and CEO. "Identifying
legislators with a pro-business track record is an integral
component of The Chamber's efforts to hold legislators
accountable for votes that impact the business climate in
Kansas."
This
recognition replaces the voting record released by The Chamber
in previous years, and its approach is more positive, only
recognizing members of the Legislative Business Caucus who
demonstrate a commitment to supporting pro-employer and
pro-jobs legislation.
"Legislators don't hear thank you
enough from the business community for their efforts to
improve the Kansas business climate. We appreciate their hard
work and dedication to making Kansas the best state in America
to do business," said Lew Ebert, Chamber president and
CEO.
"At times, these votes are not
easy to make with pressure placed on them from groups such as
unions and trial lawyers in their district to vote against
business," Ebert said.
"Please take a moment to
congratulate and thank your legislators if their hard work in
the Kansas Legislature to support the Jobs First Agenda has
earned them this esteemed recognition from The Kansas
Chamber," Ebert said.

The register of Pro-Jobs
Legislators will be reviewed yearly as new votes are taken on
issues important to employers in Kansas. Our goal is to grow
this list to encompass more legislators of all parties. We
look forward to adding more names in the years to come.
Following is The Kansas Chamber's roster of Pro-Jobs
Legislators organized by Senate and House.
These members of the Legislative
Business Caucus have distinguished themselves through their
votes and their actions to support the tenets of free
enterprise and to move Kansas towards becoming the best state
in America to do business so that our companies can become
more productive. The Chamber's Pro-Jobs Legislators display a
voting record that reflects a pro-business approach to public
policy decisions and also exercise personal leadership to
improve the Kansas business climate. Legislators are evaluated
on votes taken on Jobs First Agenda issues, leadership in
committee work, on the floor during debate, and their work
behind the scenes.
The Chamber's Job First Agenda
includes legislative action on healthcare cost containment,
improving the legal climate, improving the workers comp
system, improving the unemployment comp system, and a
business-friendly tax climate.
