8, 2010-- After a historic four day budget debate, considering more than
fifty amendments to restore funding to protect our state’s most vulnerable
without a tax increase, the Kansas House of Representatives voted to instead
pass an unbalanced budget full of misplaced priorities.

Commerce Throw Businesses Under the Buss
March 25, 2010 – “The Kansas Chamber of Commerce is disappointed to see a
small minority of its members – 14 of 80 local chambers of commerce – send a
letter to legislative leadership saying they believe their business members

Nixon
March 15, 2010-- Last week, Governor Jay Nixon
proposed his blueprint for Missouri’s budget. The blueprint, to fill the
$500 million gap in Missouri’s budget, included a plan to reset Missouri’s
state government and did not include raising taxes. 
Kansas Chamber Blasts Governor Parkinson’s
Allegations Tax Cuts Are to Blame for
Budget Deficit
March 5, 2010 -- In response to Governor Parkinson’s claim that recently
enacted tax cuts for businesses are to blame for the State’s budget deficit,
the Kansas Chamber of Commerce expressed astonishment the Governor refuses
to acknowledge runaway state spending as the real reason for the budget
mess.

from the Kansas Department of Labor projecting the depletion of the
Employment Security Trust Fund before the year’s end.

Kansas Chamber of Commerce Releases Survey Results
March 25, 2009—The Kansas Chamber of Commerce held a
news conference at 1 p.m. today to present findings from a
recent survey regarding the comprehensive energy bill
currently being debated by the legislature. The statewide
poll, conducted by Cole Hargrave Snodgrass & Associates,
surveyed 600 registered Kansas voters from March 17-19.

Kansas Chamber Supports Senate Ways & Means Committee
Budget Proposal
January 26, 2009 – The Senate Ways and Means Committee has
crafted a truly pro-jobs budget that offers a more substantive response to
our current economic crisis than does the Governor’s rescission proposal for
this year. The Committee’s bill puts the State of Kansas in a much stronger
position to not only generate the necessary savings to address the 2009
shortfall, but also better positions the State to face the necessary budget
reductions in 2010 and 2011.
