The Kansas Chamber is alarmed by the recent statement
from the Kansas Department of Labor projecting the depletion of the
Employment Security Trust Fund before the year’s end.

April 16, 2009 — “The Governor’s veto of the energy
legislation is wrong for Kansas. This action will have devastating effects

Kansas Chamber of Commerce Releases Survey Results
March 25, 2009—The Kansas Chamber of Commerce held a
news conference at 1 p.m. today to present findings from a
recent survey regarding the comprehensive energy bill
currently being debated by the legislature. The statewide
poll, conducted by Cole Hargrave Snodgrass & Associates,
surveyed 600 registered Kansas voters from March 17-19.

Kansas Chamber Supports Senate Ways & Means Committee
Budget Proposal
January 26, 2009 – The Senate Ways and Means Committee has
crafted a truly pro-jobs budget that offers a more substantive response to
our current economic crisis than does the Governor’s rescission proposal for
this year. The Committee’s bill puts the State of Kansas in a much stronger
position to not only generate the necessary savings to address the 2009
shortfall, but also better positions the State to face the necessary budget
reductions in 2010 and 2011.

Kansas Chamber Releases 2009 Labor Law Guides
November 6, 2008 – The Kansas Chamber of Commerce has
released their 2009 Human Resources Library, which features two employment
law how-to guides, covering everything from hiring to firing (and everything
in between). The updated publications include the Kansas Human Resources
Manual and Model Policies and Forms for Kansas Employers.

August 14, 2008 - The Kansas Chamber is announcing that J.
Kent Eckles will be joining our staff as the Vice President of Government
Affairs. In this position, Kent will lead the Chamber’s efforts at the

The Kansas Chamber Encouraged by GAO Ruling for Boeing
June 19, 2008 - The Kansas Chamber learned today that the
Government Accountability Office (GAO) ruled in favor of Boeing’s protest of
a lucrative U.S. government project being awarded to a European company. In
February, the U.S. Air Force granted the $35 billion contract for the
construction of midair refueling tankers to Europe's Northrop Grumman/EADS
group.

May 28, 2008 – The 41 members of the 2008 Leadership Kansas
class will converge on Garden City on May 29-31 as part of the program’s
training sessions which are conducted in every region in Kansas.

February 18, 2008 – George Will, America's foremost
political commentator and columnist, will be the keynote speaker at the
Kansas Chamber Annual Dinner Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 in Topeka. The Dinner
is the largest statewide gathering of business and political leaders in
Kansas with over 1,200 participants.
Senator Pat Roberts will be the master of
ceremonies for the evening’s events and Garmin International will receive
the Ad Astra Award for business and civic excellence.
