POSITION NOTICE
Girard Area Chamber of Commerce
Girard, Kansas
Position: Executive Director- An at will employee
that serves the Chamber Board of Directors.
Job Summary: Responsible for managing the budget,
membership development and retention, program planning and implementation of
the Chamber and assisting the City of Girard as appropriate with economic
development and value added projects for new and existing businesses in and
around Girard.
Reports To: The Board President
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration, Marketing, Economics or Public Administration, or a closely
related field and two years of progressively responsible
administrative/management work in a not for profit environment or any
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Residency: Required to maintain residency within
Crawford County, KS
Responsibilities:

Develops and carries out the
Program of Work as developed with the Chamber Board of Directors.
Coordinates the committee meetings and assists each committee chair in
implementing the goals and objectives included in the Program of Work.
Coordinates the development and distribution of information regarding
programs, services, activities, issues, policies, and procedures of the
organization.

Shall keep the Officers and
Board of Directors fully advised as to the financial condition and needs
of the Chamber and may make recommendations to the Officers and Board of
Directors on all matters concerning the welfare and operations of the
Chamber. Serves as Chief Financial Officer of the organization.
Maintains complete records of activities and finances. Process and
approves all chamber expenditures.

Supervises the function of the
organization according to the Chamber by-laws.

Working on economic development
initiatives that enhance the community. Joint efforts with the City of
Girard, Girard Industrial & Revitalization Board, Crawford County
Convention and Visitors Bureau, Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce and
Crawford County Commissioners are common and these partnerships should be
fostered for the greatest benefit to the Chamber and Community. These
efforts could include but are not limited to:

Recruitment of new business
and industry to the Girard area

Retention of current
businesses through creative problem solving
-
Attention to housing in our
community and how it can and should be enhanced to incentivize workers
to live here
-
Quality of Life issues that
impact a residents decision to live and work in Girard
-
Works closely with the
EnVision Girard process to ensure cohesiveness in Community building
-
Keeps area citizens and members
informed of the activities and concerns of the Chamber. This can happen
through a variety of sources such as the Morning Sun, chamber website and
frequent visits to member organizations and involvement in community
events.

Responsible for maintaining the
chamber website. This includes but is not limited to :
-
Preparing and maintaining
monthly and annual Calendar of events on the website
-
Updating Chamber member pages
and making sure all information is current
-
Maintaining current
information on the community and making the website attractive in nature
-
Further enhancing the website
to make sure that it is an effective marketing tool for Girard and its
area businesses
-
Coordinates the research, data
collection, and preparation of communications, reports and other written
or visual material needed for grant applications, public presentations,
brochures, flyers, news releases, reports, special projects, etc.

Primarily responsible for:

Aiding Chamber committees in
carrying out their goals and objectives

Membership Development and
Retention
-
Prepare & Distribute Monthly
Chamber Newsletter
-
Maintain current database on
Community Demographic Information
-
Scheduling and coordinating
Ribbon Cuttings, Open Houses, Business After Hour Events, etc.

Christmas Parade
-
Monthly financial and
activity updates to the City Council
-
Performs such other tasks or
functions as specifically directed by the Board of Directors.
