The Kansas Manufacturing Council’s (KMC) Coolest Thing Made In Kansas competition highlights the state’s manufacturing industry, which employs one out of 11 Kansas workers. Any product that is made in Kansas qualifies for the competition.
The reigning Coolest Thing Made in Kansas is the EMP Shield made in Burlington, KS. EMP Shield is
the world’s first electromagnetic pulse (EMP) surge protection technology for an entire home and vehicle tested to military and UL 1449 standards from ETL. How cool is that?
The nomination period opens in August each year. The products that received the most nominations will be admitted into the tournament. They will compete in weekly head-to-head match ups. The products receiving the most votes in each match up will advance to the next round, moving one step closer to winning the ultimate prize – being named the Coolest Thing Made in Kansas.
The winner will be announced during the Kansas Manufacturing Summit in October and awarded the Coolest Thing Made in Kansas trophy. The competing companies will be invited to join the KMC at the Coolest Celebration Reception and to display their products at the reception and summit. The 2021 reception and summit will take place October 11th and 12th.
Presented by BKD CPAs & Advisors, this competition is a great way to learn about the many products made in Kansas. It’s a wonderful opportunity for Kansas manufacturers to show their best stuff and prove that they have what it takes to be the Coolest Thing Made in Kansas.
